It had been a long time that I wanted to try one of the many recipes on the internet to prepare cereal bars at home but there are 2 schools of thought, those that add flour and pass the mixture in the oven and those that create a sort of caramel as a binder of the cereals, and since there were no photos of the various steps I could never decide which one to try. After finding various open packs of cereals in the pantry, I decided to try to prepare them home made and they were perfect, and who buys them more! I don't know about you, but I love cereal bars, they are nutritious, light, rich in fiber, and are the ideal snack for a greedy break, as a snack or to eat after a nice jog in the park so one afternoon, so next time I would like to try to make a larger quantity and see how and for how long they keep, indeed, if you have any info on the subject, let me know;) That's all for today, a kiss and have a good day.
How to make cereal bars
Mix the cereals in a bowl, I chose puffed rice, corn flakes, kamut and all brain (the latter two are not good if you want to make gluten-free bars!).
Put the butter, sugar and honey in a saucepan and bring to a boil
Cook for about ten minutes until a nice caramel has formed
Remove from heat and add the cereals, then mix with a wooden spoon until they are well bonded to the caramel
Pour into a rectangular baking tray lined with parchment paper and flatten to form a rectangle with a thickness of 1 cm
Just let it cool then transfer to a cutting board and cut out 10 rectangular bars
Serve your cereal bars right away or store them in an aluminum box.
